Clever GS321 Sleeve Applicator with Steam-Electric Shrink Tunnel

We offer a used Clever GS321 sleeve applicator equipped with a steam-electric shrink tunnel. The machine is designed for automatic application of heat-shrinkable sleeves onto products and their subsequent shrinking in the tunnel.

Technical condition

The applicator is in good mechanical condition. During the inspection, no play was found in the drive transmission system or in the sleeve cutting system, which is a common issue in machines of this type. No leaks were found in the gearboxes either.

The machine was connected to the power supply. The stepper cards started correctly and did not show any errors during the test.

The only issue identified is the U521 frequency inverter responsible for driving the sleeve unwinding system from the magazine. The inverter is not operational, so during the test the sleeve unwinding motor was powered by bypassing the inverter.

Shrink tunnel

The applicator is equipped with a steam-electric shrink tunnel, which was assessed during the inspection as complete and in good condition. It was not possible to connect and run the tunnel during the inspection, therefore its operation could not be fully verified.

The tunnel consists of two shrinking sections:

• first section – steam nozzles with built-in electric heaters, which additionally dry the steam,

• second section – electric heaters used for final shrinking of the sleeve onto the product and for reducing the amount of water remaining on the packaging.

This solution makes it possible to maintain the shrinking effect characteristic of a steam tunnel while reducing the amount of moisture remaining on the product after leaving the tunnel.

Control system and electronics

The machine is equipped with an older control system, with electronic components that are no longer generally available on the market. The stepper cards controlling the rollers responsible for sleeve unwinding and sleeve application onto the product were manufactured specially for Clever and are no longer available as standard spare parts.

In the event of a failure of one of these components, repair and recommissioning of the machine may therefore be difficult or time-consuming. For this reason, for regular production use, modernisation of the machine's control system using currently available components is recommended.

Configuration

The applicator and tunnel are currently configured for one sleeve format used by the previous owner. If the machine is to be used with other products or packaging dimensions, suitable format parts may need to be prepared or manufactured.
